The issue I am running into is I have had a 2017 Macbook Pro 13" Non-touchbar for several years now and now running into issues due to the lower spec. Got the MBP as a gift and it's been grean.
The laptop is 8GB ram, 128 SSD, and i5 processor. I know that there are upgrades/adapters for getting more storage for the SSD. However, Apple being Apple made the ram part of the motherboard. So upgrading the ram is not possible (Youtube videos show it is but by specialized electrical soldering and run the risk of you Mac not recognizing the ram or messing up the motherboard)
Question is.... Is it possible to just swap the logicboard to a high spec one? with 16GB of ram and an i7? Everything looks to just drop right in place but not sure if anything in Mac's programming/infinite wisdom might stop it from working/recognizing the part. Everything else works flawlessly on the laptop. (I am keeping in mind I still am limited to the 2 thunderbolt and non touchbar config)
Can I swap the logicboard from a higher spec off eBay (~$160-200) and it work? This option would be much better that shelling out $1,500+ for a new Macbook pro.
I want a new one in the future (a couple years maybe) but trying to breathe new life into this one to mac it more enjoyable to use on a daily. Newly wed so trying to go the "cheaper" route.
