Is there buried somewhere in all the OpenCore directions and east, step-by-step way to upgrade an OpenCore setup to Big Sur. Or, should I just be happy with my stable Catalina setup? After trying to follow some of the guides, I'm leaning towards the later.

Thanks for your help!

do you have access to a computer that officially runs Monterey?

I ended up reinstalling my old Nvidia 120 gpu to provide a boot screen for easy set up.

My preference is to use open core legacy patcher

download the OCLP terminal app and it does it all for you.

I'll check out the OCLP terminal app. Is it like a GUI for open core?

I do have access to a Mac that officially runs Monterey, but to what end?

Also, won't the NVIDIA 120 prevent you from running Big Sur because of the lack of Metal support?

I run Monterey on a similar setup to yours and am very happy with it.

Use OpenCore Legacy Patcher - easy upgrade

Here is the link to the OCLP

And look at this post as well

So, I had an SSD and a NVME drive installed in my Mac Pro. The NVME is my boot drive, and I was using the internal SSD as a backup. When I got to the "install OpenCore" part, I wasn't really sure, so I installed it to my SSD. I then successfully loaded Big Sur on my SSD. I kept trying to, then, load Big Sur on my NVME drive, with no success. So, I removed my SSD, but I still couldn't boot into the proper OpenCore loading screen . . . maybe because I already had an older version of OpenCore installed on my NVME?

I guess I could just clone my NVME drive from my SSD drive, but that seems like admitting defeat.

Thoughts?

Could I use CCC to clone my OS drive from my SSD to my NVME, without having to clone the data drive? Does it work like that now with AFPS drives?

Yeeha!

What about those who can't afford a metal card ? They are kind of expensive. I have a 5770 in my 5,1 - I was able to hack Mojave to install using DosDude's tool. Catalina would not work though.

Still going strong!
The only thing I'm experiencing is that Messages is slow to update between my Mac Pro, my IPhone 11, and my Mac Mini (which is also running Big Sur).
