Any apple-pro's out there, your help is very much appreciated, I'm an absolute newbie and I have a couple of questions:

1) I have an old iphone running 1.1.1, it's jailbroken and unlocked using anysim. I'd like to upgrade it to 2.0 firmware, and I've read a lot about the Pwnage Tool. So, my question is: will this Pwnage tool work on my unlocked 1.1.1 iphone, or do I need to upgrade to 1.1.4 before pwning? What happens if I restore my iphone to 2.0 using itunes BEFORE pwning my iphone? will it get bricked? My main concern is to avoid bricking my iphone!! What can I do?

2) I'm heading for college soon and I'll be travelling a lot between the US and my home country. Will an unlocked iphone still run on AT&T? In other words, will I be able to use at&t while i'm college and my local carrier when I'm abroad?

ANY ANSWERS WILL BE VERY much appreciated!

Same here...

If you activate it in iTunes (pick a service plan and all that), I know that even if you unlock it it will still work in the US with your AT&T sim card. When you are in your home country you'll just need to swap the sim card with a local one.

I'm in your same situation more or less... I have my iPhone with version 1.1.4 it's jailbroken and unlocked. I want to upgrade to the latest version, activate it in iTunes, unlock it and jailbreak it again.

I'll be going to college in the US, and will be traveling back to my country so I need an unlocked iPhone.

So... question one remains unanswered. Anyone would like to help on that?

Ok, so... let me see if I got it...

I read somewhere that what anySIM does is it patches the firmware. So, does this mean that if I restore the iphone, it'll simply terminate the jailbreak and "re-lock" the phone? In other words, what are the chances of bricking my phone if I reset it to 2.0 (or any other) firmware?

You see, the only thing I'm scared of is bricking my iPhone... So I wanna be sure that this is a *safe* process.

thanks again!

I went to 1.1.4 from 1.1.1 by

1) Restoring to 1.1.4 in DFU mode and
2) Pwning using one of the many available guides :)

Worked fine for me. I don't think 2.0 should be any different.

HELP!!

I decided to put my iphone in recovery mode and restore to 1.1.1 before any attempt to pwn (note that I was NOT downgrading the firmware, I was just restoring to the same firmware my phone already has!) and I keep getting ERROR 1600!!

I've tried 2 more times and it always comes up!! I read that by deleting any files in the Library/iTunes/Device_Support the problem would be solved. However, I still get this message even after emptying out this folder!!!

What can I do!?
