using my 2.66 macpro i installed windows March 2007 with Bootcamp drivers 1.2 (might be 1.4 but not 100%)
Since then i have not updated the drivers due to concerns i heard about driver issues and incompatibilities.

I have a 2x2.66 x1900xt 500gb XP drive (2nd bay non-partitioned)
running XP Pro SP2

im wondering would it be wise to create a restore point prior to updating to 2.1?
and are there any intermittent issues with upgrading from 1.2 to 2.1?

as id like to update my XP updates and get SP3 as well.
as ive had a few sitting there for a couple ofmonths now.

any recommendations? the system is smooth and solid, but didnt want to have to start all over again!

thanks!

Essentially the method that would work best is to of course try and clone the copy of windows you have now since it seems to be working fine.
WinClone is a good free choice.

You shouldnt need to do a complete reinstall of windows to do a service pack update, seems kind of silly. HOWEVER it is nice every certain period of time to do a nice clean install of the OS itself, as the registry could get clogged and program files get corrupted etc etc. and maybe providing a faster sleeker operating OS.

My recommendations, create the initial restore point, (if able do a full clone of your windows drive), then install the 2.0 Drivers, then Restore point, then 2.1 then restore point would be fine. in case something acts goofy.

The 2.0 should be on your Leopard install disc, 2.1 provides aluminum keyboard support but remaps some of the functions such as screen capture, etc (in windows)

otherwise maybe just clone your current OS and do a full install ofit, then installing the 2.0 then 2.1 drivers then getting SP3 and going from there as it will be a completely flush SP3 system.

hope that helps and wasnt overwhelming!
=)

Upgrading Boot Camp from 2.0 to 2.1 when SP3 already installed

It's my understanding that SP3 should be installed AFTER upgrading to Boot Camp 2.1. I installed SP3 when I upgraded to Boot Camp 2.0.

Will upgrading to Boot Camp 2.1 in anyway disturb SP3 if SP3 has already been installed?

Doubt it, but your right SP3 should be downloaded after 2.1 id see if anything b0rks before worrying about it
