Upgrading From 1.0.2 To 1.1.1

Yes I am in the same situation. I bought an iPhone the day it came out. I couldn't use it until it was able to be unlocked, -I used iPhoneSimFree paying $50- Now am uneasy about upgrading my firmware to 1.1.1 Can I upgrade?!? I don't want to get stuck with a bricked phone?

I just did the upgrade on my unlocked 1.02 iphone. I believe this only works for iphones unlocked with anysim and not iphonesimfree.
Anyways I just followed these two guides to a T:
virginize iphone:

The easiest way to virginise would be aviod that guide, as it has become easier since!
Put installer.app on your iphone, download and install 'Virginiser', run it and follow the instructions.
PLug into itunes and update (but not after this friday), then use the second link above to unlock the 1.1.1 firmware

Is this safe to use even since I unlocked with iPhoneSimFree? I thought I read somewhere that IPSF was irreversible or something.

Hmm, good question. I'd ask over at the hackint0sh forums before trying it out. If they advise you can virginize etc, then I recommend these guides (they worked perfectly for me, and are really easy to follow):

I have an Iphone with 1.0.2 installed and unlocked... the only problem is I don't know which sim unlocker was used as it was done for me when I bought the phone from Ebay...
So can anyone advise which is the best way to upgrade to the new 1.1.1
I also have installer on my phone but don't see the viginise option.

There was no program listed on the phone when I got it... no Icon... nothing
So how do I know how it was unlocked?
