I couldn't find anything on this, so... I have an original iPhone that has been jailbroken and is running iPhone 1.1. I want to upgrade to 3.1.2, I will use Pwnage Tool to create the IPSW. Will it be OK jumping from 1.1 to 3.1.2?

It should be fine but you might want to upgrade to 3.1.2 on iTunes first and then jailbreak your phone.

I thought about that, but my internet is slow. In the interest of time could I just use the standard IPSW I am downloading in iTunes to do the upgrade, then install the jailbroken IPSW?

Yes you could do that but you would need to locate that ISPW to do the jailbreak.

i can recommend blackra1n.
It's quick and easy install; JB and unlock your device :)
