Hey. Avid iPhone user here, upgrading often until I got my 6 and was never tempted to upgrade further, until now.

I usually get my phones on contract with a network but have decided to buy it outright as with a sim only plan it will work out a lot cheaper over 2 years (and it gives me the option to sell the phone in a year if I want to).

I'm just wondering if I should get the X, which I could get now for about £850, or the XS (with work I can get a 2% discount so £980).

Do you guys think the XS is worth the extra £130?

Obviously if I come to sell it in a year it should be worth more, but I don't know if I'm being steered towards the XS by the fancy marketing alone.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah I’d get the XS. The 6 has lasted you a long time so you might as well upgrade to the latest and greatest. You won’t be upgrading often, after all.

I’ve got an X (my last was a 5S!) and there’s not enough difference to justify me jumping to the XS, but on an older phone you might as well.

I'm with 6s since launch day and I'm planning to upgrade to XS Max. I think I've missed a lot of features by now and I'd love to have an OLED screen, a better camera and a faster device overall. (battery also sucks on my current 6s)

I guess it depends on whether the other features are something that would be useful. Such as being able at some point having 2 numbers on your phone (using eSIM).

It probably depends on what tech is coming down the road for 5G. If in 2 years usable for you in the UK, maybe go with the X since that will still be fine for at least 2 years.

The eSIM sounds like it COULD be useful for me at some point (I could combine my 2 iPhones into 1 phone). And of course buying a new phone would get me a new warranty. But you buying a new X for less would get you a warranty.

I'm in the same boat as you though i have a 6s plus. I was leaning towards X but after thinking, i can trade in my 6splus for 200$ which is the difference between Xs Max (1099) and an X (899).

The X is a substantial upgrade over what you have, buy it and save some money. You lived with the 6, trust me you can easily live with the X.

XS obviously. It will last longer than the X, so that extra money will be spent on the extra longevity.
