Hey so I’m looking to surprise my fiancée with a new iPad as part of a wedding present. Inside will be a video I edited for how I got her father’s blessing. Her current iPad 4 16GB storage is full plus apps tend to crash on her often (it’s running iOS 10 I think).

I’m a MacBook guy never owned an iPad myself, can anyone help me with what I should get her? She’ll only really be using it for YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, social media and emails.

I’m considering the 9.7 iPad 2018 128 GB and the new iPad Air 3 not yet sure on 64gb vs 256gb

Thanks!!!

It sounds like she'll get by on any of those models – it's hard to imagine someone like that even filling up 64 gigabytes unless she's downloading tons of TV episodes and movies or something.

Get the iPad Air 3 with 64GB.

I upgraded from an iPad 4 last year. 9.7 iPad will feel like a refreshed version, and that’s not a bad thing, but Air 3 will knock your socks off. 64 GB should be fine if it’s for browsing and some Netflix downloads. Laminated screen and bigger screen are welcome improvements over what you’re leaving, and also what the 9.7 has.

Either way I think she’ll enjoy the upgrade, but best overall value, I’d lean Air 3 and be fine with 64GB. I went 5 years on my iPad 4 and 64GB and never once had an issue.

Loved my iPad 4 but I was blown away when I went to a new model!

Yet another vote on Air 3 64GB. As mentioned, either will be a significant upgrade over her current iPad 4. The Air 3 is just much nicer.

The Air 3 has an extra GB of RAM, a chip that’s 2 generations newer (A12 rather than A10) than the 2018 iPad and likely means enough storage for years to come without having to pay for the upgrade on the 9.7”. The Air’s laminated display and smaller bezels will give a more premium feel too.

I just upgraded from a kept to the minimum, almost full 16GB iPad 3 and have less than 21GB used. 32GB would do for now, but I imagine I’d struggle eventually if I kept the iPad as long as I did the last one.
