i just purchased a new iPad 10.2 2021 ipad. it just arrived yesterday. but it’s still sitting unopened on the table. i’ve seen differing reviews regarding drawing with the iPad 2021 standard model so now i’m having doubts about my purchase.

unfortunately i can’t afford an iPad Pro or iPad Air.

i assume that the iPad 2021 will bevan improvement over my iPad mini 4? i understand that both have 3GB ram. i purchased the 256GB version.

my only other option would be to take it back and try to get an iPad Air on sale on black friday but that’s no guarantee i can get one. only one shop here had them in stock.

i know there can be some lag with the apple pencil but that it’s not much of an issue from what i’ve heard. i’m aware that there’s limitations in print size and layers depending on the model but i’m ok with those limitations.

has anyone else used the iPad 2021 with procreate and what do you think of it? any other issues? or quality issues?

It's more than an improvement, it's night and day. Mini 4 has 2GB RAM, but, more importantly, a much slower processor... You'll be fine with your iPad. I do not recommend the air 4. If you can find a good price on 2018 pro (for instance an Apple refurbished one) with pencil 2, that's a better purchase than the air 4, otherwise stick to your 256GB iPad 2021.
