Upgrading HD -- What Kind?

I'm thinking about upgrading my iMac HD from the 320 it came with to a 1 TB drive. What kind of drive do I need to buy?

The exact model I have is: iMac MB325LL/A 24-inch Desktop PC (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive). Purchased new in February 2009.

Any 3.5" Serial ATA drive would be fine. I would recommend visiting:

Why stop at a TB? A year ago that would have been your best option, but they've got 2 TB for around $100. I would HIGHLY recommend the Western Digital Caviar series. Black, Blue, or Green is your choice depending on what you do.

Black is faster

Blue is liquid lubricated ("should" last longer)

Green is slower but "greener" for the environment.

My MB has a Blue, and My external drive is a black that used to be the main drive in my pc before switching to Mac. So i'd recommend either.

that's the first time I've heard the Blue is lubricated...

the Black is for performance. 7200RPM, relatively noisy, and uses the most power.

the Blue is a little slower, still 7200RPM, but is quieter and uses less power than the Black.

the Green is a low-noise, low-power, 5400RPM drive. it's significantly slower than both of the above. most use it as a pure data or backup drive.

the Samsung F3 sits somewhere between the Caviar Blue and Black, but costs less.
