MacRumors article on inner swapability of iPhone SE and iPhone 8 parts talks about using cheeper iPhone 8 parts to fix iPhone SE but what about a more interesting idea of using iPhone SE parts to upgrade iPhone 8 on the cheap (cheeper than buying iPhone SE).

What do you think?

Good luck getting an SE logic board and processor “cheap”. The battery would also need changing as the connector is different. Home button connector on the display is also different I believe.

It would be cheaper to sell the 8 and knock that money off an SE in my opinion, but if you can get parts genuinely cheap then it maybe an option.

Would it actually be cheaper? I feel like this isn't something you are going to want to do on your own, and the cost to pay someone would negate most of the cost savings.

There's no way that would be less expensive than selling an 8 and buying an SE.

Touch ID and true tone are locked to the logic board. So u will lose that functionality.

there are no SE parts available for the foreseeable future. An iphone 8 logic board goes for about $120 plus battery $30.
on the other side sell the 8 and u could get $200.

so we are speaking about maybe $50 difference getting the SE. Without all the work and losing functionality...

You would spend more money on time and resources even trying to piece together what you’re suggesting. Not to mention, what could possibly go wrong when you start inner-changing parts between phones with the slightest tweak of a flex cable or soldered component.

and even if you were successful in locating the parts, your next thread would probably start something along the lines of like...”Why my iPhone won’t work.“
