Upgrading iPhone while installer.app is installed?

I've had installer.app installed on my iphone for a while now, and I've been afraid to upgrade my iPhone due to it (I'm on 1.0.1).

I just wanted to see if I could get confirmation that you can upgrade the phone. Or should I do a factory reset first?

I imagine upgrading it will wipe install.app off of it anyway...
