Upgrading iPhone

I am selling my old iPhone on eBay and plan to purchase a 3G iPhone when they are available. My questions is do I need to keep the SIM card in order for me to transfer my data over to my new phone, or should I ship it with the phone to the winner of the auction?

do not ship ur sim card... unless you want the guy to have access to all your info and your phone account!!
