My iPhone 4 is on IOS 5.1.1 (9B206) and it is jailbroken but I now want to upgrade to IOS6 and have the iPhone clean of any jailbroken apps, settings, tweaks etc. I don't really want my iPhone jailbroken anymore so yeah haha.

Is it okay for me to just go into iTunes and do an update onto IOS6 without entering DFU mode or anything? or must I enter DFU mode, restore iphone into a clean 5.1.1 and then upgrade to IOS6?

If it is the latter then the problem is my power button is broken and I've tried entering DFU mode by creating custom ipsw through redsnow and stitched my shsh blob onto it. But when I jump onto itunes and click restore to use the DFU ipsw the phone doesnt enter DFU mode but rater it enters recovery mode (has the itunes +usb sign on screen not a blank black screen).

So what should I do :S

Thank you

Just hit Restore on iTunes. When done, iTunes will try to sync back your last backup (it also contains jailbreak settings). Say no to this step and set up as new. Done.

thank you for fast reply. should i do this in recovery mode or can i just do it?

No need for DFU or Recovery. Just hit Restore (not Update) on iTunes. Might I add, this process will leave you with a factory clean phone, no contacts or notes. Nothing. So f you don't have iCloud, now is a good time to get it.
