Yes the x5?? series are the correct processors, BTW the price seems a little high and there are no such thing as matched pair if you can get two single processor for cheaper then they will work the same. As well the x5660 @2.8, the x5680 @3.33 and x5690 @ 3.46 will all work in your machine.

Also the X5675 (3.06 GHz) which was the fastest available from Apple.

Agree that the price is rather high.

Hi guys. I recently traded in my 3,1 for a great condition 5,1 (2.4 GHz 8 core) with 32GB ram. I'm looking to upgrade the processors to 2.66 12 core.

Is this the right matched set for that purpose?

From the eBay link above, the shipping is also too expensive at $44 for a pair of light CPUs. Also check with the seller how will the CPUs be packaged. Some sellers may not have the proper knowledge to securely pack the CPUs without damaging it thru transit. Best to get a higher clocked 2.93ghz, 3.06ghz or 3.33ghz.

Shows free shipping for me too. But will try and source for better priced, higher clocked chips. Thanks so much everybody.

^^^^It shows free shipping for me!

Sorry for confusing the shipping costs, my mistake. I was viewing the page as I am here in Manila South Asia and overlooked that there are shipping charges outside the US. Hope you get to find a good deal on the Xeons. Thanks
