I would like to upgrade my MacBook Pro 9.2 (13-inch, Mid-2012) from 500Mb (Crucial) SSD to 1TB.
Which 1TB would you recommend?

I recommend doing a spot of homework to find a 1TB SATA SSD which has a DRAM cache on board; avoid DRAM-less models (which tend to be entry-level within a product line of a major manufacturer/brand). Look over general reviews on those models which do have a DRAM cache, and do so from assorted sources to assemble a picture of patterns in end-user experiences (and to weed out automated and/or paid reviews). If you can, it may also help to look into which vendor supplies the solid-state modules for that model.

If you’re asking for the best way to make a purchasing and usage decision you can live with, these areas above are where you ought to your shopping research.

If you’re asking for a product endorsement, that’s another matter and something I won’t be doing, even as I bought a 1TB SATA SSD, with a DRAM cache, for my late 2011 13-inch MBP (MBP8,1) earlier this year.

Good luck!

I have Samsung 870 EVO, Crucial MX500, Seagate Ironwolf 125 and intel DC 4610 all of which are great SSD and I can recommend any of those. Since you haven't mentioned any budget I can't know if they would fit in it though.

I also have a Samsung 870 QVO which also works great, but it's a QLC drive instead of TLC so it's kind of slow on writing speed, so I wouldn't recommend it for boot drive.

Thanks.

Samsung 870 EVO 1TB ($60 @ Amazon) and Crucial MX500 1TB 3D ($48 @ Amazon), both SATA III and I suppose with DRAM cache and migration software; both good enough for me.

Did some one try the 2TB? I am working on a lot of photos, which I transfer to external SSDs when finished.

I never used migration software bundled with the SSDs. Back in the day I used Carbon Copy Cloner without any issues (https://bombich.com/ there is a free trial)

2TB models should work fine I think as it's the same SATA interface.
