So I’m upgrading my 2017 27” iMac core i5 6700k, 8gb ram, and 2tb fusion drive to a core i7 7700k, 4tb ssd (2tb evo 860 and 2tb 970 evo plus) and 64gb ram.

My father has a late 2013 iMac 27”, core i7, 8gb ram, 1tb hhd. Will my old components from my iMac work in his? Thanks.

You cannot use your CPU as his is soldered onboard. His RAM is DDR3 yours is DDR4, so that's out. You can use your Fusion drive. However, quite honestly SSD drives are so cheap now, why not install one instead and put the fusion drive into an enclosure? While you are at it, upgrade the RAM, also not that expensive. Here is the guide how to carry out these updates. Full disclosure, it is not for the faint of heart: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/210862/Need+more+ram+for+iMac+21.5+late+2013

Bummer about the RAM and processor, would've preferred to just put it into his machine rather than selling it.

Yeah, was thinking about getting him a cheap ssd, but he doesn't use a ton of hardrive space (200gb used out of 1tb) and I figure the 128gb ssd would be enough when fused with either his or my HDD to give him a big boost speed wise, plus I don't think I could get much for my 128gb apple nvme from my fusion drive.

Thanks for the guide, the removal (and re-installation) of the screen is my biggest concern, mainly because of the adhesive, I don't get why they don't just use brackets with side screws and gaskets, much easier and reliable, plus looks better too IMO.

The RAM is not soldered on any of the machines - they're both 27" as per OP. The correct upgrade guide for the OP's dad's iMac is this: https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel_27"_EMC_2639

Other than that, you're right.
