Hey there, so I finally settled most of my debt, now its time to get something for myself. I'm thinking of upgrading the hard drive inside my 20" Intel iMac, but I've read up a few snags from some people, like an overheating HD, or a loud one. I've done my searching, but I haven't really seen anyone recommend a specific one.

So from the great community, what do you suggest (Brand, Speed) to be my iMac's new HD? I'm looking towards a 500GB. I don't do any heavy editing or processor work, but I do have a big movie and music collection in conjunction with my Apple TV.

Hope to hear from you

2 hours till my 24th bday, have a Heineken for me pls!

I upgraded the internal in my 24" I would definitely stick with the Barracuda 7200.10 series, but if you can afford to go with the Barracuda ES series, I would go with that. I originally went with a maxtor and it was terribly loud in comparison to the seagate.
