upgrading notes

notes is telling me i need to upgrade the app to access the new features and that i need to update OSX and my ipad for it to all sync

does this mean all my previous notes won't be accessible on the other device?

i want to know what my actual life will notes will be across my devices wants my phone is upgraded even if the rest are not

All previous notes stay where they are . Visible on Mac and idevices .
New ones sync between iPad an iPhone .
No more sync with Mac until El Capitan comes out ...
