So I am thinking of purchasing the below macbook pro. I want it very powerful as I will be using it to edit high quality film. I'm thinking of upgrading the new macbook pro myself to 16 GB memory and a 1TB SSD storage. Is this a bad idea or a waste of money? I just don't want the memory and storage to slow down my performance when using the editing software.

13‑inch MacBook Pro
  • Apple M1 chip with 8‑core CPU, 8‑core GPU, and 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 8GB unified memory
  • 256GB SSD storage
  • 13-inch Retina display with True Tone
  • Backlit Magic Keyboard - US English
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports

It's not a bad idea. Just one that you can't do anything about.
There's no replaceable/upgradeable memory slots, and you can't upgrade the boot drive that the m1 comes with.
Buy it with the configuration that you think you will need.
