So I'm looking to see about upgrading the Ram in the iMac I have to possibly 32GB. From a search I can see that it's supposed to be PC3-8500 1066MHz So-DIMMs. It looks to be documented that officially it supports up to 16GB, but unofficially it can do up to 32GB. My question is that it's pretty hard to find 8GB sodimms in this frequency, and/or they are fairly cost prohibitive, considering the machine. However I have been able to find PC3-10600 1333MHz 8GB sodimms for fairly cheap. would these work in the iMac 11,1? I know in PCs you can put them in and for the mot part they just won't run at the full frequency but would run up to the max of the processor. .

I've done this. I just buy A-Tech 1600 and it works fine in models that take slower RAM. I bought the 1600 because it was cheaper than the other speeds.
