I just ordered a 17" MBP and I am looking at upgrading the ram myself because Apple is so expensive. I found 4gb (2x2.0) from OWC for $220. I've bought RAM from OWC before (for my Mac Pro) and it was good stuff. How involved is it to upgrade RAM in a MBP and would it void any warranties or any of that?

Thanks.

It's user upgradeable. Apple has instructions in the MBP user guide. They also have a DIY manual with a bit more detailed pictures. Apple Manuals

btw: bought a 2GB module from OWC a couple months ago. Very good company to deal with.

Thanks guys, that guide on Apple helped a lot. And I'm glad to hear it's not gonna void any warranties. I wish it was as easy as it is in the Mac Pro though, that was the easiest upgrade I've ever done. Granted, it was the only upgrade I've ever done on my own, but still, so super easy.

Thanks again!
