Upgrading RAM of late 2009 Mac Mini

Hi,

I'm pretty terrible at hardware, so I'm just posting here to double check my facts and make sure I don't do anything stupid.

I have a "late 2009" model Mac Mini (the only kind with 2.26GHz), and I wanna upgrade the RAM on it from the 2GB it came with to 8GB (or 4 if that's not possible). According to this link, it should be able to handle the full 8GB.

That being said, is this what I'm looking for?

The Late 09 Mini can handle 8GB RAM (2x4GB - so can the early 09 Mini, though the early 09 Mini requires a firmware update to be installed first).

I don't know if the RAM you linked to is compatible or not. Is there a reason why you're looking on eBay for RAM rather than buying it from some place else?

it looks as if it works but I don't know the seller or the name brand.



I have used more then 50 of these below in mac mini 2009 models. ( i used to upgrade 2007 to 2009 minis) I know the seller. the price is close. I will look to see if they have an ebay sale some times they do.

this is the same ram and the same company selling it they have 3 ebay names. so if you want it from ebay buy this:

notice they location is san jose ca in both cases. Plus I have purchased direct to superbiiz and from all three of their ebay companies.

Personally, I've always been a bit touchy about buying electronics on eBay. If I were you, I'd go for an actual retailer.

That guy on eBay is selling each 4GB stick for $39, while Newegg has a pair for $80. The $2 difference (perhaps less after Newegg free shipping) is worth the peace of mind IMHO. I have a pair of 4GB G.SKILL sticks in my mini, and they work perfectly. Also, you should be fine with 8GB - I have that much in my early 2009 mini, and it's a peach.
