Has anyone tried upgrading the iMac Aluminium RAM without lying it flat on a table?

It looks possible with a small enough screwdriver to be able to tilt the screen up as far as it will go then just unscrew the door and pop the RAM in.

So any luck?

At your own risk...

Slide your imac to the edge of the desk, tilt it all the way back, and access like that.

I've done it on both of my white iMacs - doubt you'll have any trouble.

Just use caution when it comes to static this time of year - make sure you're grounded out, and minimize your body movement when actually handling the ram.

Hey guys, has anyone tried installing a new hard drive while in the shower? I'm really busy these days, and it would help if I could bring my Mac with me and save some time while cleaning up tomorrow morning. What do you think? :^)

You may not think his idea is the best - but seriously - maybe he does not have enough desk space to safely lay it down flat?

So quick to criticize here.

I've moved my iMac to the edge of the desk and opened the RAM door before. It's not that difficult but it might take a a bit of work to lean over to see the door.

At first I thought you wanted to install the RAM without turning the iMac off...

Well I managed the edge of the desk trick and got 1 2gb stick in...But the factory stick refuses to budge and I'm pulling as hard as I dare on the tab!

Any hints?

P.S iMac is really sweet now with this upgrade

Yes, because I didn't read any instructions. It just seemed like common sense, though I did grab a right-angle phillips screwdriver.

No problems. YMMV.
