I have an iMac 27" w/ 4GB. I was looking to upgrade to 8GB. When adding more GB, do they have to be the same MHz? For example, my iMac has 1067 MHZ in it. If i get one that is 1333 MHz, will that still work with the 1067 MHz?

Possibly, but it would be under-clocked. I would make sure you get some that are mac compatible.

Hi I have a 2006 imac. Just upgraded ram to 2gb total. This is what Crucial scanner said. Is there a way to upgrade to more ram like 4gb total?

Thanks! Like I said I already upgraded via Crucial to 2gb total(2, 1gb sticks), would really like to bump it up. This mac was given to us recently so it didn't cost us a cent.

Yeah 2GB is the max for that model iMac. With that Snow Leopard can run fine though as long as you are just doing day to day tasks like iTunes, Office, email and Web browsing, maybe the occasional iLife stuff. Enjoy the free iMac!
That's all I do. Actually we were going to buy a new iMac in the near future and wondering if this one will be ok cause we won't have to spend the money now. Or I was contemplating selling this one and using the funds towards a new one? How much is this model worth with 2gb?
After a quick ebay search it looks like they are going for around $500. Not bad for a nearly 5 year old computer. If funds are tight, keep it, it will do the job. If you have the money laying around selling this and getting the base iMac from apple right now would show a substantial improvement in performance.
I understand that if I add 1067 RAM with the 1333 that it will under-clock the 1333 to 1067. Is there a noticeable difference? Also, would having 6gb vs 4 outweigh the under-clocking? When would I notice a difference in the speed?
I have 2-1gb sticks laying around from my 2010 MBP and would like to put them to use if its not going to slow up my iMac. I could also reinstall the 1gb sticks back into the MBP and give my iMac 8gb at 1067.

Well, I installed them and geekbenched.
4GB @ 1333MHz - 32-bit score 9235
6GB @ 1067MHz - 32-bit score 9222
I'll stick with the originals and buy additional at the 1333MHz.
