Upgrading RAM

Can the newest mac mini be upgraded to 16gb of RAM? If so, what do you guys think the best RAM for the money is?

Yes, it can via two 8 GB 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM modules from Newegg or Crucial. Corsair and Crucial amongst others are reputable brands.

The best RAM is the Kingston HyperX Plug'n'Play, followed by the Corsair Vengeance. Of the regular stock-grade RAM, it's going to be Crucial for Mac.

A quick glance at the Apple website would tell you that Yes, you can put 16gb in. Im not suggesting you buy it from Apple however, as their ram prices are steep. But ANY of the popular ram venders will sell you perfectly good/compatible ram for a mini. Macs don't use special Apple specific ram.

1) all three are really reliable.

2) all 3 are as big as you can buy.

3) all three have top MHz of 1600

4) kingston timings = fastest

5) corsair timing = second fastest

6) crucial timings are in third place for speed

95% of users don't need the faster timings at a higher price, but some people can benefit with the better

timings.

I'm using Patriot DDR3 16GB 1600MHz (2x8GB modules), PSD316G1600SK.

Working great and reasonably priced (currently $109 at Fry's)

After a little over two months or so I must, unfortunately, report that I likely have a problem with at least one of the modules I purchased. Yesterday, I started to see scrambled graphics much like I did when a module was going bad in my 2009 mini. I have opened a support ticket with Patriot. I'm sure it will be no problem for them to replace it since it has a lifetime guarantee.

I'm not sure I agree. OP should have at least examined the Mini material on Apple's website.

I have the 16GB Crucial Mac Compatible kit from Amazon. No problems. Love having 16GB of RAM, especially for running VM's.
