upgrading Tiger to Snow Leopard Box set and my 3GS

I have a jailbroken 3GS on 3.0 which I use with my 24inch iMac wgich is currently on OS Tiger. I want to upgrade and buy the new Snow Leopard Box set which will of course change the OS and perhaps iTunes / iPhoto etc.
Once all that's installed will it simply be a case of syncing my 3GS or is it far more complicated than that

When I upgraded to SL, I copied everything out of iTunes, Address Book, iCal, iPhoto to a USB drive, then dropped it all back into the respective apps in SL.

I just didn't want to chance loosing anything.
