hey guys, just being curious and wanted to ask those who have the beta up and running if it is worth upgrading or waiting.

I have ziphoned 8gb 1.1.4 which works perfectly so there is no real 'need' to upgrade but am curious as pwnage seems to have opened the gates to new things. Also is the picture copy/screen shot function up and running as that's one I am looking forward too.

Cheers

ATM its not worth it or reccomended. Being a beta its kind of wonkey at times, not to mention the fact that it also a time limited beta. As of X date (not sure when for the newest release that came out last weekend) it will stop working, period and you wont have a phone w/o reflashign to 1.1.4 on it. I'm not sure the latest can be pwned either as far as hacktivation/unlocking goes, most likely can, but havent looked into it myself yet.

basically, i dont think its worth it unles you need it for actual testing. The expiration thing is annoying..

thanks for bringing the time limit on that, i have seen dates around regarding beta but wasn't sure about it. guess i will have to wait.

also does the copy paste/screen shot function appear in the update?

cheers for your advice

The beta firmware that has been pwned does NOT expire - only official versions expire!

But is it worthit? honestly no - because it is a beta - it does crash - it does NOT work with installer or any third party apps and any music/video purchased on iTunes will not work as DRM is not working in the beta versions.

There is also NO iTunes store or AppStore (Unless you can find the very first beta version 1.2) and pwnage has NOT been updated to work with 2.0 beta 4 yet either although the others will work!

Rememeber if you do use pwnage you MUST restore to 1.1.4 custom pwned FIRST before going to any of the 2.0 beta versions or it won't work. Read the FAQ!

Cheers for advice dude (although I was only asking if it was worth doing not how to do it) but your info on being buggy was usful. I just wanted info of people using it to give a more personal insight. Still June not too far now ha ha

Beta 4 has iTunes store and AppStore added, AppStore is still not functional like expected. It also fixes the DRM issues.
I agree though, it is too early to use 2.0 betas unless its for development purposes.

I am aware beta 4 brings back appstore and itunes but seeing as pwnagetool has not been updated to work with it and it has not leaked online I figured it was pointless to go into that.

However when pwnagetool is updated and IF it leaks then maybe beta 4 if its more stable and you want to try firmware 2.0 that will be the way to go specially if it fixes some bugs from other versions.

Not sure if its different with the iPhone, I just got it, but I've had an Ipod Touch that's been pwned for awhile, and the 3rd beta ran pretty well. The occasional crash, but nothing too bad. Much better than the second beta release.
