Hi again!

I could use some advice and guidance.

I try to upgrade some of my apps or install new ones and they keep telling me I need to upgrade to 3.0 iphone.

Obviously my iphone is jailbroken and unlocked and full of apps installed through installous, cydia and the app store, some of them I bought and paid for, most I did not.

I saw something mentioned somewhere that if I upgrade to 3.0 I will lose everything on my phone.

I have lots of videos I downloaded from youtube and lots of other stuff I put on it, music, videos, pics, just lots and lots of stuff.

It's like a really old iphone, the first to come out, it is 8gigs. I think it's over 2yrs old now.

Is there a way I can upgrade without losing all my stuff?
If not, how can I back up *everything* on it. When I hook it to a pc the only folder I can see on it is the photos. It won't let me browse any other folders on it. :(

I sure could use some advice because I really do not know what to do.
The first time it was easy when I hacked it because it was totally blank at the time, it had just been given to me as a hand me down gift.

But now it's full of stuff and I'm afraid to lose everything...

Thanks! :)

Explore through SSH and backup as much as possible. You can try something like App Backup to try to save everything, but that requires restoring from a backup which isn't suggested when rejailbreaking. But you can get the youtube videos from ssh, and a few other things. If you really want you can restore from a backup, and it will restore sms, photos etc. But I would make a list of all your apps/cydia packages so you can easily remember what you need to redownload.

The short answer is not without a lot of effort on your part. The options are to SSH to your phone and pull everything you need over to your computer. Anything the is in iTunes is safe so no need to worry about that. You can use appbackup as mentioned above but I seem to remember people have problems with it in the past. Everything you've installed is still available on Cydia if worst comes to worst.
