iPhone Upgrading to 5.1.1 from 5.0.1

Hey,
I'm new here and I'm using a 4S running 5.0.1. I want to update to 5.1.1 before its gone or whatever.
I have tons of pics & some cydia apps and settings I don't want to lose. I know how to restore but I'm iffy on re-jailbreaking and updating to 5.1.1 vs iOS6.
Can anyone give me a step by step? I'd really appreciate it.

When I do a backup & save it to my computer that DOES save all my pics and contacts and texts right?

EDIT: what's the best program to backup my cydia apps and settings if possible and how do I acquire it?! Thanks again.

Pkgbackup in cydia

A itunes backup saves your pics, contacts, txts and also all your settings, including SETTINGS for jailbreak apps (not the jailbreak apps itself)

Be quick to upgrade to 5.1.1 and save your SHSH/APTicket for it before apple stops signing it
