I've currently got a Mac Pro 2009 with a stock Ati 4870, i'm looking to upgrade to CS6 and want cuda support, as well as some more power for some 3d packages.

I've been looking at a flashed Nvidia GTX 470 as this offers decent performance at a good price. I was wondering what sort of problems am I likely to run into not running a stock card.

I've heard there are certain programs that won't run properly, also are the drivers mature enough to give me decent stable performance?

Finally it it possible to buy a pc card and flash it and get the full performance out of it or would I need to buy one from someone like MacVidCards on ebay?

Well if you are running Lion then you can install the nVidia drivers. You can then run a GTX 560,570, 580 and many others very stable. Couple threads here on the forum.

It appears that perhaps the 600 series will be supported very soon according to other threads here in this forum.

Personally I'm leaning towards buying one of these and keeping my current mac pro for another year or so. The "new" mac pros suck and I'm still not wanting to go back to windows or deal with the whole hackintosh thing.
