Upgrading to SSD

Ok my new Samsung SSD just came in the mail from amazon and I just had the best service ever! I ordered it yesterday. I don't know how, but I got it today. I mean I ordered it with the free shipping 5-7 days, but I'm not complaining. I thought I would have figured out how to move ONLY the OS and apps over the SSD. Nothing else like my video files because I would not have enough space for all that. HELP! I'm running over to best buy to buy an enclosure for it as you read this. My Mac Pro is not complete.

Download Carbon Copy Cloner. It is superb, free for the first 30 days, and simple to use.

You can select which folders you want to duplicate to your new ssd, or clone the entire drive and then just remove anything you want to store elsewhere.

I think something good to do is, copy all of your important stuff of to a external hard drive and start over with a fresh install on the SSD and then copy the stuff back over. Always better to start with a clean install.
