I have the iPad 11” 64GB Cellular version, and im not to fond of using cloud storage. I think direct access storage is the way to go personally.. Im using Adobe rush a lot and I’m having to delete a lot of my videos, after I put a clip together to save on storage space. I thought I’d be ok, but I’m sitting here imagining what it would actually be like with 1TB of direct access storage space on a iPad, and I’d never have to delete apps, or videos, photos never ever ever lol!

Plus 6GB of DDR4, that is 50% more memory that my current model.. so instead of have roughly 2.9GB of ddr4 available with only the bare iOS running at startup with nothing else running, I’d have 4.9GB of DDR4 available.

Long story short, I’m considering selling mine and buying a 1TB 11” iPad Pro. I’d consider the 512GB too, if I found a good enough deal.

I’ve found one for $1,200. I’d have to add a decent amount of cash on top, but I’m just picturing 1TB of storage and what I could actually do with that for years to come!

Any thoughts? Who has the 1TB model? Apple really built it as the ultimate iPad beast lol.

So you've gone from having all kinds of problems on the iPad and hating it to the other end of the spectrum and you're gonna buy the most expensive model they have?

Are you just trying to see how many new threads you can start in as little time as possible?

Ive the 1TB SG LTE model since launch. It’s a beast. The RAM alone is worth the price of admission. 1TB is overkill but a nice to have. I do music production and video editing (no photoshop or still photo photography) and have had an enjoyable time with the device.

I was having one problem. A Touch issue, I made a video about it to explain that it’s a real issue. And I still deal with it to this day. I like the iPad Pro.

What choice do I have? Want me to cry abou it all day? If I’m missin letters this is my iPads fault. No one will fix this for me, I’m on m 2nd unit so far.

Since when can people not be very frustrated if they have 2 failing devices that do not work properly. What is this forum for?

It least I’m not Trolling people’s threads, I state facts and that’s it. Your making up stuff, several problems? 1 problem dude..

If I sell my iPad Pro used, will you pay my losses? No you won’t, so let’s talk **** to me for keeping it. And getting past my own issues with it.

I think what he’s getting at is that in your other thread you’re talking about how unimpressed you are and how you’re moving on. Then in here you’re talking about spending as much as possible on another one.

As someone who has had two iPad Pro 2018 models, either exhibited any issue like you claimed in your other thread, but I agree with him that it’s odd you’d be looking for a massive upgrade of the same model after seemingly having such an issue.

What model of keyboard do you use for the music apps? IRig, Korg, etc. did you have to buy an adapter to connect it to the ipad?

I’ve said before in another thread that I thought mine was getting better. And it wasnt exhibiting the issues as bad. We are human, we get frustrated. And I’ve called the new iPad garbage before out of pure anger yes, but I was only mad. I like the device, I use it everyday, it works for me.

I got the 1TB version cause i plan to edit 4k video, and I travel a lot, so won’t always have access to wifi or cellular. I know it was expensive, but i use my ipad as my main computing device, so in that sense, it was worth it.

I may have gone with the 512 if i knew for certain that Apple will open up the usb-c port in iOS 13 and allow connecting to an external hard drive.

My apologies for being rude. I felt like you’re calling my experience With the iPad Pro BS. It has been frustrating, I think it is possible that some refurbished units could exhibit the problems I experience. So getting a third device through warranty would be pointless, as they could possibly have the same problem and fly under the radar when hey are tested for function. So, I’m considering a new retail iPad with more storage space to go with it. There’s not another tablet on the market that can compete. So, I can say I’m “in pursuit of happiness”

I stitch a lot of pictures together, and the iPad makes this possible without needing a laptop.

There have been at least 4 to 5 people who are experiencing this issue who PM me asking did I fix my issue in my video with a new device. And the answer is no. So, yea I’m goin to buy a retail 1tb iPad Pro and keep my fingers crossed. I doubt I’ll have the problem though, not with a 3rd device that is retail packaged.

Until then, you’ll continue to see m posts with missing letters in hem. Because it is a real problem.

It’ll be around the end of February before I can get the next iPad.

I wanted that 1TB 11” for several reasons... but Costco had the 256gb WiFi on sale for $799, and I had a $100 Costco cash card from my membership rewards.

So $699 for a store-new iPad Pro was too hard to pass.
Even if I found a 1TB sealed for $1300 like op did, that’s $600 more... well, take off $150 if his was cellular.. this isn’t... but still..
I’ll probably be ok with 256gb.
I have an XS max 512gb... so I’m not lacking for some local place to store photos that’s not cloud.
Even so... with my wife’s business, we share 2tb cloud, so space isn’t an issue.

I’m happy :)

I started this thread exactly a month ago, when I was searching for a good deal on the 1TB model.

256GB is plenty, and it does offer the best price to storage ratio, and that’s a great price you paid for yours too! My previous models were 64GB cellular versions. I was about to give up looking and just buy a 256gb or 512gb model.

Then I found my current 11” 1TB silver cellular version for $1,329 and it was sealed. I bought it immediately, then listed my 11” 64gb iPad unlocked on eBay for around $736.

I’m very happy with the 1TB cellular model. I do not have the best home internet, so cloud storage was not a good option for me. I’m constantly running out of home internet data, and I need to keep large files local on my device.

So at the end of the day, id say the iPad Pro 1TB is easily worth it for me.

I just made the last payment on my 10.5 256 GB pro. Im looking to upgrade to the 11 inch 1TB iPad, as id like something with warranty.
Ive read a lot of bad stuff about touch screens and bent frames, hows yours holding up? Its important that it last at least as long as my 10.5 pro (close to 2 years).

Ok so this is the 3rd iPad Pro 11” I’ve personally owned so I’m goin to give you a run down on my experiences.

My first iPad ever was a 11” 64GB unlocked used, I bought it used for $600 bucks it was perfectly straight and worked great. I did notice some odd touch issues going on with it that seemed software related. My children did drop it no physical damage was caused previously, being picky I decided to contact apple and I got a replacement though warranty.

My 2nd iPad Pro 11” 64GB unlocked refurb was great, it too was perfectly straight right out of the box. And I used it for about a month, and I sold it to upgrade to a 1TB model.

My 3rd iPad Pro 11” is the 1TB cellular new retail sealed model. Just as I guessed before it even arrived, it is perfectly straight right out of the box. Practically Unlimited storage space, 50% more memory than other models.

I always liked space gray, but I learned with my first 2 iPads that if I bought a 1TB model, it will be silver because silver hides wear extremely good.

My current 1TB 11” silver cellular version, is perfect! Straight, no touch issues, and I’m even using a glass screen protector. I’d gladly do it all again, to be where I’m at now

If you want it, go for it definitely... just two things... you won't notice the RAM, that's there for the huge 1TB flash storage to work properly, you might be able to have 1 or 2 safari tabs open, but it really won't be of much noticeable use for programs like Adobe, Procreate, Pixelmator, and such. The second is make sure you can sell your device for close to what you got it for. I wanted to do the 1TB or 512GB one but realized 256GB is so much space for me despite having RAW photos and 4K videos to edit.
Anyhoo, good luck I hope you get what you want and it's amazingly awesome. :)

I already grabbed the 1TB model

But you should read this below in regards to RAM.

Actually I’m doing research on comparing the models with 4GB of ram vs 6GB of ram. And there is no extra RAM being utilized for extra storage.

All iPads have 7.5% of there memory utilized, and this 7.5% is not allowed for the iOS to see. Believe it or not, the 4GB models have around 8% utilized, and the 1TB models have 7% utilized.

The 1TB model always has 48% more USEABLE memory than the lower storage models. I’m testing several applications, keeping both devices exactly the same. And I am running various applications across both devices, and checking available memory. Then I am loading the internal storage, and repeating the process. It is very time consuming but pretty accurate.

I’m still working on this right now. But, all of the extra memory for the 1TB model is available to be used!

So, as I am testing both devices side by side for about 5 days now. It is amazing that all of the prior information online about the 1TB model is well, false!

I dunno where this rumor started, but it has spread like a wild fire lol.

Hope that helps.

I picked up a brand new sealed/boxed 12.9 1TB Wi-Fi/cellular iPad in the UK for £1500 with Apple Folio case. I checked with Apple before the guy came round(he gave me the serial number from the box) not stolen and not registered. I checked the S/N was teh same then registered it fine and added apple care, sold my old iPad Air 2 64GB which was over 4 years old for £200 and got a refund from my power supplier a day later for £200 as well, so it feels like it was just meant to be. Its a great machine, i'm loving mine I have to say. I don't use iCloud, I backup to my iMac. So I'm very happy all round and pixelmator flies on this device. I would never have gotten such a large storage version but for the price the guy was selling it at I couldn't say no.

Given the current state of iOS, I don't find any 2018 iPad Pro worth the money... but of all them, I think the 1TB (relatively speaking) offers the best value.

I had a 1 TB 12.9 and just moved to a 512 GB 11 inch with cellular. I notice no performance difference at all with less RAM.

Is it not so much that the 1Tb model has more available ram than the other models, but more so that even if it had 10Gb more ram it doesn’t matter, because there is no software or task (currently) that utilizes more than what the 4Gb memory models already offer, ?

Hmm, Safari?

It likely won't have much impact during typical usage but more storage does require more RAM on occasion and some corner cases. It's more of a "how SSDs work". Sure, you can skip the RAM but there's performance impact with doing that (e.g. BX500 vs MX500). That said, I'm curious what those corner cases might be on the iPad. I don't think there's a benchmark available on the iPad that will do continuous/multi-GB random 4K write tests. Curious, can you check available memory with, hmm, say storage 90-95% full while installing some large apps? Or maybe a 4K video export (granted, 4K export is probably more sequential which is less stressful on storage and perhaps CPU-bound as well compared to app install)?

There is no performance difference to notice. More memory doesn’t make anything faster.

Actually that’s not 100% accurate.

Using Adobe rush and editing a 4K timeline uses a lot of memory. That 3,769MB of Ram goes very quick, and jumping around in the timeline to different scenes causes performance issues. The frame rate will drop as the device is running out of memory. Closing the application fixes this, but the problem returns if your editing the same video as your memory starts to become depleted again within just a couple minutes.

There is another important situation where the 4GB does not suffice too.

I’m only scratching the surface on this. But, there are plenty of scenarios where you need the memory.

Using either device, one is not faster than the other that is silly. But, start using a lot of intensive applications, and only one device will maintain a smooth experience.
[doublepost=1552586256][/doublepost]People should understand that if your watching movies, playing games, or just surfing the web, or possibly just casually editing videos. They will have a very smooth experience. What I am saying is that the 4GB of memory is ok for most of all iPad users will never notice.

I am not sure, I got a 1TB version, as I wanted the best for nothing really. I love it, more space than I will ever need and to be sold when the next version comes out.
