Hi,

I'm a customer of Comcast and on my G5 (10.4.11) I'm getting around 20Mbps Down and 0.35 Mbps Up. I should be getting around 4-6 Mbps Up, instead.

The thing is I only have an Up bottle neck on my main operating system on the G5. To test out if it was a router and or modem/provider problem, I restarted my computer, booting into another OS 10.4 under a different partition. My Up speed was dramatically increased to 4-6Mbps. When other notebooks are connected, either via hardline or wireless, their speeds are all around 20 Down and 4-6Mpbs Up.

I don't know what is on my main OS that is limiting the Upload speed...I checked all the network settings and they're all the same with my other notebooks, etc. If anyone have any suggestions, it would be great. Thank you

Did you manually set the MTU size, speed/duplex, etc? Leave it all on auto.

Does there seem to be a bottleneck on copy files locally between systems?

everything is set to Auto in the network settings. Only other thing I noticed is that when I speed test on the OS with the Up bottle-neck, there is always about 5 secs of lag between Download and Upload test. Where as the other computers, OSs all just test things right after the other.

UPDATE: I just solved it. I was looking at my activity monitor while doing the speed tests to see if there are programs running hindering the network. Apparently I didn't know there was a Throttle program in the startup items. I stopped the process and the speed picked up to where it's suppose to.
