Hey guys, I uploaded over 30gb of files to iCloud Drive to free some HD space, now they're done uploading but I have not cleared any space on my computer from doing this... I thought it would upload the entire thing to the cloud? Is there something Im missing?

Thanks.

I am new to cloud drives, but I think the files are on both the cloud and your hard drive.
At least that's what I've noticed with onedrive. I edit a file and it uploads to onedrive in the background. I assume there are settings to work directly off the cloud and save space on your hard drive, but for me, at least this way I can access the files from my MacBook if the network is down.

hopefully someone else has a more accurate answer.

iCloud Drive is just a 1:1 mirror.

All files uploaded to the iCloud Drive (for example via the iCloud.com or different device) will be downloaded to the Mac hard drive.

Sadly, for now, it's not for freeing up the space ;)
