I just got my iPad late last week and I cant figure out if there is a way to download jpg image files from a Mac to the iPad and then upload them to the Mac again later. I cant figure out how to do that with iTunes syncing either form the iPad or the Mac.

Can this be done so that images can be stored and retrieved between the iPad and Mac?

When the iPad is connected to iTunes, check the box to sync photos. You can specify a folder in iPhoto that will sync or you can just sync all photos.

Yes, I have done that many times and the pictures end up in the photos app on the iPad. Their name is stripped and I know of no way to send them up to the Mac again

iPad doesn't use the filename for the pictures' names. It uses the title that is in the metadata.

As the other person said, the pictures are still in iPhoto. They are kept in sync between your mac and iPad.

When you do that you are syncing copies of the pictures to the iPad. The originals are still in iTunes. I'm not sure what you mean by send them back to the Mac.

My intention is to use the iPad in the field to upload files from my camera to the iPad allowing me to erase the camera's SD memory card and keep shooting. Then at home I want to get the images on the iPad to my Mac again.

This is easy to do with a Mac laptop but I want to do it with the iPad.

Well ok, I have the devise on order but the write up says it will allow you to download pictures to the photos app on the iPad but it says nothing about retrieving them to any computer

Robert

There is really no easy way to get files off of an iPad. Think of it as the same as an iPod touch. You need to sync it with iTunes on 1 computer. There are some apps that allow you to wirelessly transmit files to a computer on the same network or thru the internet.

Dear kind people,

I am looking for a method that allows me to download digital images to the iPad. The quality and file names must be preserved. I then want to upload these pictures from the iPad to a different computer with no changes to the pictures from the first computer to the other.

If someone has actually done this I would like to know how that person did it.

The concept of what I need is simple but alas the way to do this may not be possible.

Thanks,

Robert
