Here's my situation. I am a college student, my girlfriend's gateway exploded so she shared my macbook with me. Between the two of us we burnt out my HD so I replaced. The problem is I couldn't find my Mac boot disk, I assume its at my parents, but I have papers to write and projects to finish. I did have windows XP hanging about from using it with parralels, so I uploaded windows and rewrote a 10 page paper for econimics. Now that I'm in the clear with my school work that let up enough free space in my brain to realize I just put windows on my mac first.

I partitioned about a 3rd of my hd to it but can I reinstall my mac os when I find it on the remaining partition? If not how can I just purge XP from my laptop?

thank you for your time

Nice find, I'm not sure if you can install OS X on the partition, but should you ever find the disks, just boot from the CD at startup and use Disk Utility to reformat the entire HDD.

so your mac notebook just has XP with a unused partition?
regardless, partition or you can still install Mac OS on that partition or when you goto install OSX you can jsut have it remove all partitions to a single partition, thus removing the XP portion and the other partition you made.
