Uppgrading my M1 mac mini to Big Sur 11.1 from 11.0.1

After difficulties I got 11.1 on my M1 mac mini but lost "Connect to Server" !

Can ping in both directions.

Trying to connect smb//:192... to the server result in a dialog "Trying to connect to server" and then the M1 mac just spinns ... and nothing happens !

My Intel macs had no problem with 11.1 and "Connect to Server" !

The log show that it exited with abnormal code: 1
Dec 22 20:50:52 M1 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.sharingd[970]): Service exited with abnormal code: 1
Dec 22 20:50:52 M1 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.sharingd): Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.

>>> "Connect to Server" works when booting in secure mode <<<
something installs something bad at boot ... but what !

I have not installed any app ... except xcode

Anyone got a clue what to do ?

/Alexis

I found a workaround for this issue. When using a machine with a M1 chip unter 11.1 you have to supply the username when connecting to a SMB share. It seems not only the listing of SMB shares is broken currently but also the mechanism that asks you for your credentials.

example:
smb://[username]:*@[servername/ip]/[share]/

Hi
Think my problem is "mdworker" that is in conflict with "shared" ... and crashes "shared" !

disable/kill "mds" (think its the indexing engine), "shared" stays running !

Just a guess that works for me :)

I have the same problem and I think it is now the M1 processor. I think it was the last Security update that messed up everything. I have 2 machines:
1) MBP 16" with Big Sure 11.1 (last update available)
2) Imac 27" with Catalina 10.15.7 (last update available)

I have the same problems on both machines (different processors, different configuration).
They were both OK before installing last updates....
