Fair warning to anyone looking to have your phone/watch held at a store instead of delivered. UPS CC is the hub where all trucks start and where local sorting happens and is the last stop before your house. Customer pick up's happen here for packages that require signatures that you're never home for, packages that are too heavy for drivers etc...and iPhone launch days :)

UPS Stores are franchises and independently owned. They might as well be your house and are treated as such. If you redirect your package to a UPS store, it is considered an exception and there is NO GUARANTEE that it will make it on the truck on Friday. Unless you are wiling to risk delivery on Monday, do NOT have your phone redirected to a store.

Every year without fail there is someone that redirects to a store and they come to MR complaining that their pickup/delivery is delayed by a day or the entire weekend.

Agreed. Some say they have done it before and was able to get it on original delivery day while others have reported being delayed because of this and had to wait till Monday. For UPS Store Access Point, do at your own risk.

My understanding of how that works is that they still load it to the truck it's originally supposed to get on when it's delivered to your house. Drivers will see that and will drop it anytime it gets to that location.

It is real simple. UPS CC you can pick up when they open on launch day. UPS store will delay until Monday. Hold for pickup at UPS CC. Done. If you don't have one, wait for it to come to your house.

I've done this multiple times... redirected a phone to a local UPS store.

So far, It has never delayed my delivery. I changes the status to "delivery exception", then within a day or two it goes back to the original delivery date.

I have always switched to a UPS store less than 5 miles from my house, usually about 2 miles from my house.

I can see it delaying delivery if you refer it across town, but if it's close it shouldn't make a difference. In my experience, it's always been the same day delivering to a very close UPS store.

So anyone experienced the CC as unavailable before? I tried to do this just now for both my watch and phone, and the Austin, TX CC shows as unavailable.
