me again.... What is the difference between a 750VA and a Pro 500UC?
I'm sure they can help me at CompUSA but everytime I've been in there - well.... they aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree ;)
So I would like to know going in what I need to look at. So, thanks for all the help you've given me in the other thread.
There's also a UPS that is a UPS Pro 500 with a USB port with 7 outlets.
Right now I only have 3 things plugged into the "monster."

P.S. Whenever I run the bounce sheet over the computer when I first wake it up, there is no "zapping" -- will the UPS help if this is some sort of static electricity?

750VA is a measure of the capacity of the unit

Back-UPS Pro 500UC is $109 at TigerDirect. http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BP500UC . It appears not to have the same type of automatic voltage regulation as the others (boost only). Its capacity is 500VA or 315W

UPS Pro 500 - is an incomplete model number, difficult to comment on this

Loook for this model: APC BACK-UPS RS 800VA - list price is $189 Capacity 800VA, 540W, and it has Boost and Trim Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

In your head.
Search the forums for UPS, there are a lot of threads about it.

As noted by the Hoofed Canadian, APC is a great company. I have dealt with them when our units were well out of warranty. They look at each call as a potential customer, not money loss. One advantage of APC is that they have simple kits that include return shipping and HAZMAT fee when you need to replace the battery on the unit (Years down the line, if it has a user replaceable battery). It's easy to go to Radio Shack and get a replacement battery, but APC seems to have both customer service, the environment and simplicity in mind.

The last APC product that I purchased, contacted them directly. Sent an E.Mail and also talked to a person the the phone. That way I got the best product for my particular situation.
