UPS question

Well my old APC, (circa 2002) finally gave up the ghost. SO I went ahead and got a new one. It would appear however that "power chute" has no love for my Snow Leopard. I did some google-ing around and didn't really find anything definitive. I have a couple of questions.
1) I saw that leopard had some native support, I'm I correct that SL does not?
2) I didn't know if using the usb connection provided that when "detected" by SL if the advanced power options would show up?

Sometimes I feel like such a newbie............

SL has native support for APC UPSs via the USB connection. It will show up in Energy Saver preferences.

Advanced APCs features will not show up. There is no updated powerchute OS X version available from APC. Not too much of an issue, since those advanced features do not affect the basic function.

I have never missed the Windows PowerChute application since Snow Leopard and Lion support the APC UPS natively through the USB lead.

By the way, when you bought your new APC, did you do so through the Trade-UPS programme? You would have received a substantial discount on the new UPS if you did. I replaced a Back-UPS RS800 with the Smart-UPS SMT1000I and got around 20% off.
