Hi Guys.

My girlfriend is in the US this week, and all of a sudden this has happened to her iP14PM:

She cant connect to the Wifi, cant sign into her iCloud, and has extremely limited data allowance roaming.

She doesn't have access to another phone or a computer, and all Apple stores are closed right now.

How do we re-enable that Certificate?

Thanks

There is no ‘US’ trusted root certificate preinstalled on iOS.

Can she send a screenshot from ‘Settings > General > VPN and Device Management’ to see if there are any configuration profiles installed?

Okay, there are no config profiles installed.

Check ‘Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings’ to see if there is any root certificate there.

If the certificate error message is only displayed when using a specific Wi-Fi network, then it’s probably because they are trying to inspect all traffic flowing through their network.

Don’t trust their certificate as that will allow them to snoop on encrypted connections.

Get a local eSIM for data. T-Mobile prepaid eSIM, or Airalo, or one from another provider.

Are you sure she’s connecting to the correct hotel network, and not to another one that has a similar name, that’s trying to spy on network traffic?

So she went to Apple the next day, the issue was her Hotel wifi had triggered a safety issue, which basically bricked her phone - to prevent data loss.

Apple was able to connect it to their own wifi (somehow?) and updated the phone from 17.0.2 to the current 17.0.3.

This fixed the issue immediately.

Thank you for all the responses, good to have the MR crew on hand in times of emergencies, you're all legends <3
