Good morning everyone,

I have logged on to my iMac today and suddenly my email is not working. It is fine on my iPhone, but my accounts on the desktop won't go online and have the following error:
Mail was unable to open this mailbox on the server “imap.fatcow.com”.

The server returned the error: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. [2012-11-12 05:30:16]
Can anyone please help me resolve this ASAP as I need the desktop account to be working to get my work done. I can access via webmail but it slows down the workflow massively.

I have contacted my email provider and their response is:
I am able to send and receive the emails fine from my end.
Please help

Simon:confused:

1. Open Mail

2. In Mail's menu item 'Window' select (in the drop-down) "Connection Doctor". When in checks look at the bottom of the Connection Doctor window and click on the "Show Detail" and then click on 'Check Again'. This way you can see why Mail is not talking to the server.

2. After figuring out the problem is, check with your ISP email server settings online and then compare that to Mail's Preferences, Account settings.

3. Rejoice after you fix the problem and you figured out how to fix it yourself.

Thanks Satcomer,

The error magically healed itself after 6 or 7 hours of hassling the hosting company ... I am now switching from them!

Good tip though, I will keep in mind for next time.
