I've been unemployed due to a serious health issue. I was recently given a medical return to work clearance and have a job interview scheduled for tomorrow. Last night I updated my Mac. It bombed and won't boot. I MUST HAVE a working system for tomorrow. I'm using a borrowed Windows system for this but I can't use it for tomorrow. I tried searching the web to see how to get the Mac installer and Monterey on a thumb while using a Windows system. Yes I should try to use the latest OS but since Apple took away the option to clone drives and it just killed my OS, I'm going with an older system for now. I can't risk not having a system for work and again, Apple's recovery process is much more likely to have problems AS I'M NOW EXPERIENCING, since we can no longer just boot to a cloned recovery disk. It's either an older OS or after many many years of using Apple/MAC (I have one of the first Macs downstairs still), I'll end up going to Linux because guess what, I CAN CLONE MY OWN DISK IN MY SYSTEM WITHOUT ISSUES AND IN THE EVENT OF A PROBLEM, SWITCH DISKS AND RECOVER LITERALLY IN MINUTES. So, here we go, is it still possible while ON A WINDOWS SYSTEM to put the Mac installer and Monterey on a thumb to install to my Mac so I can install from it? The instructions I found online were all, ironically, for using with a working Mac or required a software purchase which I can't do, and I have a serious time constraint. I tried to post this in Apple's forum but I guess mentioning LINUX is against the standards because it would not let me post this. Thanks in advance.
