Urgent Help: Setting up wireless card and keyboard

Hi guys!

Need some help here! I've managed to successfully install Windows XP 64-bit on my MacPro, and everything is working fine, except two things: wireless connections and keyboard.


Lets keep this simple:


1. Keyboard

The keyboard is working fine. I mean, I can write with it, etc, yet I can't seem to use the 'Apple shortcuts' on it, like volume control, eject disks, etc.

I've tried to install the drivers through the OSX Install CD, and the software says the keyboard is installed, yet it doesn't work. As a matter a fact, this is the wireless bluetooth Apple keyboard, and the Bluetooth icon doesn't even appear on Control Panel.

What can I do?


2. Wireless

This is my major problem. I really need internet on this computer, yet I can't seem to setup the wireless card. I mean, it doesn't even detect it!

What can I do? I've tried to search for drivers on the internet. Following the OSX System Profiler information, my wireless card is a Broadcom BCM43xx. This way I've searched for drivers hoping that WindowsXP could find the wireless card later. But... I've encountered a bunch of problems.

- One of the files I've found was called 'Broadcom_43xxwl_drv4100155.exe' . I've downloaded it (45,8MB) and tried to installed it on WinXP. An error appeared. It says I don't have the hardware installed on the computer, and the program closed (?!)


- I've also downloaded other files. One of them was a .ZIP file with three files inside - b57xp64.cat ; b57xp64.inf and b57xp64.sys. How can I install these files in order to setup my wireless card?!

And... what else can I do?!

I really, really, really need help on this. If you could help me I would be eternally grateful to you!

Apple MacPro 2x 2.8Ghz QuadCore ; 6GB RAM; NVidia 8800 GT 512MB; Apple Cinema Display; WindowsXP 64-bit

Yes mate. It has an Aiport Card. When I go to 'System Profiler', the information given to me on the 'Aiport Card' option is:

Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x88)
Wireless Card Locale: Worldwide
Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.38.9)
Current Wireless Network: Apple White Network
Wireless Channel: 9

I just can't seem to install the Airport Card on Windows XP 64. I mean, the card isn't even recognized by the computer. What can I do?

Apple doesn't support Windows XP 64-bit, so no 'freshly baked drivers' out of the Leopard installation DVD

I had to install all the drivers manually, searching through the web. I've managed to setup everything 100% alright, except the wireless card

ok well there is your problem. you will have to google and find some patched driver that some freak off the net has provided for us good people.

EDIT: http://simpable.com/software/mbp-64bit-vista/ this fella had some luck with vista 64bit, he let the vista updater search for him.. it found it somehow. i have yet to find any drivers. see the rapidshare links on that page and see if they do anything for you.

lol... I've connected the WinXP 64-bit to the internet this afternoon through VMWare Fusion, and I made all the software updates.

Still... my wireless card doesn't appear

well that is crappy. you might have to stick to either, leopard, or 32-bit xp.

The reason I bought this MacPro was to take advantage of the 8 cores, and of the maximum RAM possible. Anyway...

I sure hope to get things right. In about two or three months - I hope! - I'm going to delete Windows for good. I'm just waiting to Rhinoceros to come out to OSX natively!

aahh i see, that would be quite painful. those editing programs are pretty heavy on the hardware too so i can understand why you would want to max everything out. thats a bummer.

re: the keyboard - The Apple functions aren't going to work in Windows I don't believe. I can never get the eject button to work, I always have to manually select the drive in a window and select eject.

I don't use wireless so can't make any comments other than, yeah you might be SOL with the Airport card for bootcamp. Maybe get a cheap PC wireless card? But to download, etc. to get other stuff like Firefox and other windows apps you normally use on the Mac side you need to hardwire that puppy via Ethernet.

Glad to hear everything else is working okay.
