Am visiting the US soon and thinking of picking up a cheap unlocked iphone 4s at a retailer such as Best Buy for $100 or so.

I read a post in Macw***d forum that advised that doing the same for an iphone 6 might present problems in terms of US-Europe frequencies.

As I'm looking at this older phone (for use as PAYG) can anyone confirm whether or not there would be any problems using it specifically in Italy, or UK/Europe in general?
thanks

If that is actually unlocked for the $100 it will work. An unlocked iPhone 6 should work in Europe also, the ones sold in Europe appear to contain a few extra LTE bands but I believe that those bands aren't commonly used by carriers outside of China. But also if you are considering a 4S LTE clearly isn't a big issue for you so assuming you got a 6 and it did end up being incompatible with some of the LTE bands in Europe it would work just fine on 3G.
