Are there any free maps of USA for traveling for Mac? As far as I know to view google map you have to connect to internet but while traveling in a car a can not connect to internet. Its instead to have paper maps.

The link mentioned above requires an internet connection.

There are no real maps available on OSx. You could run bootcamp and use Microsoft streets and trips or one of DeLorme's packages.

Nothing free that's not tied on the net.

That's a good question. One of the reasons why I installed Windows on my MacBook was so that I could use Microsoft Streets & Trips. When you're lost in the middle of Kansas with no Internet, you can't pull up Google Maps.

Not true. However, you are correct that there is nothing free that doesn't require a network connection. That said, the [Google] Maps app on the iPhone and iPad work well.

Yes, but that one wants to use a GPS. The only mac map software is Route 66, and it is abominable -- and I don'teven think it is being updated any more. DeLorme used to support macs, but no more. Sure wish some developer would fill this void!

Um, you any map you find on the 'net you can save for off-line viewing as a web archive or PDF. Just create a special folder with all the maps you will need for a trip.

But paper is best..... really.

Huh?! If you don't want to use GPS with moving map, then a computer is best used for trip planning prior to your journey. In this case, snberk103 is correct. Paper is your best bet. Print your route along with the directions on paper. There are numerous major name websites that plot superb routes and are free except for your paper and toner/ink. MapQuest, BING, Yahoo!, Rand-McNally, take your pick. My pick is Google Maps. It is just a step ahead of the others and appears to be improving.
