I recently got the 7Plus at the end of October, and set it up as a new phone. Starting off the battery life was great.. I would have 70% or so at 7pm.

Recently I started noticing poor battery performance and came to the conclusion that my usage and standby time are identical. I'm thinking this has some relation to my fast draining battery.

I already tired killing all the apps, doing a hard reset, and letting the phone die but the problem persists.

The individual app usage times don't correlate to the usage and standby times either.

Any ideas?

It is possible something that is installed is getting stuck in the background, even with hard resets and killing apps. If you have Facebook or Messenger installed, these are two likely apps that get stuck in the background, even with background app refresh off, notifications off and the app completely closed out.

If you have a Mac, you can use Xcode and Instruments to see what processes are running in the background.

Agree that's it's probably an app causing it if a hard reboot has already been tried.

Try uninstalling each app one at a time until you find out which one it is

Deleting Facebook and messenger didn't work. I do have a mac but I'm not familiar with Xcode and Instruments

You deleted Facebook and Messenger, then charged the device back to 100% and let it sit without touching it? In order to make sure usage and standby are not increasing together, you have to charge it up to 100%, leave it untouched for about 30-60 minutes then go check it. But you cannot be using iMessage on another device or if you have an Apple Watch you can't be doing anything on that while the phone is sitting. This will cause usage and standby to go up together. Whatever is done on the Apple Watch typically translates to usage on the iPhone (assuming its not a native app).

Yes I deleted Facebook, Messenger, and the ESPN fantasy app which has been crashing. Charged my phone overnight and unplugged it this morning. When I checked the times both usage and standby were 33 minutes.

Really don't know whats going on

Really only thing you can do is delete app by app and do the same exact thing. One app has gone rogue. Or restore your phone. Restoring from a backup should be fine, but the issue will probably return until you can find that rogue app.

Could be some iCloud service or something similar too.

Well if you restore the backup, you shouldn't be out more than 30-40 minutes, even with a full iPhone. Hopefully just the restore process is enough to kill the rogue app and it will allow you to keep all your data intact. Good luck.

It's a little early to be reporting but I turned off News under iCloud and now my usage and standby are nearly 20 minutes apart. Think I found the culprit

Update: Definitely the culprit. Usage and standby are now an more than an hour apart

Resetting settings or just network settings will sometimes help as well.
