I saw some military spec bare HDs which had USB 3 interface. I think these would be connected directly to the USB bus without SATA to USB bridge and should avoid the overhead and reach close to USB 3 speed. Does anyone know of a USB 3 direct connect multi drive enclosure? Or am I misunderstanding something as to what these drives are. If I'm not mistaken these could be great for efficient external storage as the pricing was in line with SATA drives.

Hope this will point you in the right direction. It was from the Uk Amazon site.

What's "military spec bare"? Only a few manufacturers of HD's and they are all built the same. Do bullets bounce off or something?

Hello,

Never heard of bare, direct to USB3 drives. Lots of USB3 enclosures, like the one listed by Dougie83, but never of usb3 bare drives.

Shock resistance. Dropped from a standard height on each side. Also, when you pull the pin you have 10 seconds before the Predator-style micro nuke goes off, while it flashes those weird characters on your screen.

Neither had I, but that is not a reason for skepticism, at least in my case. They were "blue". I will try to find them.

Pics or it didn't happen.

I just really wanna see one! :D

They were blue. I will try to find the pics.

Can't seem to find whatever it was I was looking at last night. I must have been confused. Found sata to USB bridges and military spec external drives. No plain usb drives. Sorry, my bad.
