What's the verdict on USB 3 for a Mac Pro in 2018? More specifically a 4-core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro 5,1 (mid-2010) running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks.
"The USB 3 for classic Mac Pro" thread is getting quite confusing with its latest discussions and it's hard to tell what's relevant and not today, with more current OSX versions.
My intent is to read memory cards from a USB 3 card reader, so I really just need a single USB-3 port. Is the Inatech KT-4004 still the one to go for, for a low cost but well-working solution?
I read something about only specific PCIe slots being suitable for this sort of thing in the Mac Pro, and that not all OSX versions are supported with all cards.
